It is difficult for them to control humanity. The only tactic they have left, is to hoard things from humans to create shortages and high prices. They need to hoard those things to store in their underground Billion Dollar Bunkers, to survive the coming Solar Flash Event. Gas prices are high on purpose, to restrict the mobility of humanity. Humanity will not be able to obstruct the means of travel for THOSE IN CHARGE, in the air or on the ground, so they can gain easy access to their underground Billion Dollar Bunkers.
